Summer Art Camp – Week of June 1st

Welcome campers!

We’re so excited to have you at ART CAMP on

Please park on Monday morning, come in the front entrance of the Mall, next to El Campesino, turn left at the fountain and we’re the first store on the left. Sign in at the front desk and we’ll take it from there!

Some things to note about camp: We will start at 9:30am, we’re not able to allow students in before 9:30am, but as soon as the door opens, the car line moves pretty fast. Please park and come in the first day for sign-ins, but Tuesday through Thursday please line up in your cars for drop- off at the front mall entrance. Mall management is aware of our pickup/drop-off and is anticipating the line.

We make art until about 10:30 am, at which point we’ll take a break, have a snack , and socialize for about 20 minutes. Please pack a snack for your student for this time. We will have lunchtime about noon each day. We usually eat lunch around the fountain. Please note there is no refrigeration or microwave usage for students, so pack lunch accordingly. We’ll be watching movies while on breaks. Please let us know if you have objection to your child watching movies rated PG-13, think Guardians of the Galexy or Zathura. The Great American Cookie Company has given Campers a Mall discount for some of their cookies. Sugar and Chocolate Chip are $2.00 plus tax. There are many other choices there but cost more. We only allow cookie purchases after lunch has been eaten. Everyone with “cookie money” goes at the same time and are supervised while making their own purchases. Send your child with money if you like. They do accept Apple Pay.

Pick up will be at 2:30pm. Please line up in the car line and have your student’s name written on a sheet of paper to put in your window. We’ll have the kids on the landing out front and will move the pickup line quickly.

Children should wear old clothes and old shoes to Art Camp. We don’t always get messy, but when we do, someone is likely to say, “my mom’s going to kill me if I get this dirty”. Smocks can also be sent with your student everyday if you’d like.

On Friday, please park and come in. The students will have their work displayed for you and it’s a really exciting time for them. They’ve been working hard and have been instructed how to talk about their art and processes. Asking specific questions about their art and how they made it is a great way to bond with and support your young artist and let them know how impressed you are with their work. If your child is going home with someone different than who I’m used to, please send a note with them in the morning.

We have arranged after camp care this year until 5:30p if needed. There won’t be any art instruction, but we’ll have free art time as well as games and movies. If you’d like your child to participate, but haven’t register for After Camp please let us know Monday. After camp is $80 for the week. We are fortunate to have constant security supervision at Lakeshore Mall. Mall management as well as our security team is excited about our young artists and the fun they will bring this summer. Even still, no kids will be allowed to roam the Mall. Any adventures outside of our studio area will be monitored by our instructors and interns.

If you haven’t filled out your Student Profile/Medical Form yet, please do so with Olaf before you leave on Monday morning. If there are any issues that your student has during the week that hasn’t been brought to our attention, please let us know as soon as you can. Problems with other students are rare, but they can be taken care of as the situation calls for. If there is anything specific, we need to know about for your child, how to accommodate their needs, or how to make their camp experience the best one possible, please let us know on Monday or send a quick note before we start.

It’s important to us to have a classroom of kids focused on art. Cell phones will not be allowed during art time. They will be able to use them during breaks. Please help us enforce this rule on your end by reminding your kid about appropriate phone usage or just leaving them at home for the duration of camp. It’s an ongoing battle for us and we’d appreciate the help.

We work on projects as a group. We do our best to keep the group together, organized, supported, and working toward the same goal. My phone number is 678-989-0013, text is best, I will check it throughout the day. If you have any questions, please let us know!

Thank you for your patience and support as we begin this new summer of ART CAMP!
